Event Information

Due to major roadworks at the Hemo Gorge, the 2017 100k Flyer will remain in the direction of Rotorua to Taupo. It will alternate the other direction again in 2018.

Event Timetable

Friday 24th March
5pm – 8pm: Registration at the Copthorne Hotel, Fenton Street, Rotorua
5pm – 8pm: Bike drop off for overnight security

Saturday 25th March
7am: Shuttle leaves Taupo Events Centre (AC Baths) off Spa Rd, Taupo.
7am – 9am: Registration at the Copthorne Hotel, Fenton Street, Rotorua
8.30am: Start for those who expect to take over 4.5hours (please be on start line by 8.20am for briefing)
9.20am: Start for Elite Race (please be on start line by 9.15am for briefing)
9.30am: Start for main race (please be on start line by 9.15am for briefing)
3pm: Prize-giving at the Taupo Events Centre (AC Baths) off Spa Rd, Taupo

Shuttle Service

A shuttle service is available from Taupo to Rotorua on the Saturday morning of the event. Competitors will be coached from the Taupo Events Centre leaving at 7am to Rotorua (where their bikes will be stored) Riders using the shuttle bus service must register at the Copthorne Hotel, Rotorua on Friday evening and leave their bikes in the secured patrolled area with the organisers. No bikes will be carried on the shuttle buses! Personal gear will be transported back to Taupo for your collection at the completion of your ride. There is an additional cost of $30 per person for this service.

If you wish to use this service you must pre-book by 21st March. Competitors will be sent a shuttle ticket via email. Bag tags can be collected from security when you are locking your bike up.

Support on the Course

Available on course will be mechanics, first-aid team, 2 x water station/toilets plus other event staff for your assistance to make this an enjoyable and memorable ride.


The relay is over the same course with teams of two riders. The changeover is at the 50km mark and this is the only aid station. All transportation of riders and bikes is the responsibility of the team.


Participants must wear an approved safety New Zealand cycling helmet while riding the event. All road rules are to be obeyed at all times as all roads are open to vehicle traffic.
No aero bars are permitted to be attached to any bike at any time during this event. Under no circumstances can any rider use a ‘Time Trial’ bike or wear an I-pod or other listening devise. Any riders not adhering to the event rules will not be permitted to start.

Aid Stations

Water is available (50km) and water and toilets are available at Broadlands School (70m mark).

Pasta Plus Buffet
