The 2017 Nzo Moonride will be held on the 22nd of April. Entries are now open!
The iconic Moonride will be held at the Waipa Mountain Bike Area off State Highway 5 and use the stunning Whakarewarewa Forest trails.
Due to the present and forecasted weather Event Promotions with support from the Rotorua Trails Trust, Rotorua Lakes Council, Nzo – primary sponsor, our medic team and everyone at Event Promotions we are postponing the Nzo Moonride 2017.
Taking care of our trails and ensuring your enjoyment at the event are key factors of this decision.
Metservice has issued warnings for heavy rain on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the area therefore this early decision of postponement has been made. The event will now be held on Saturday the 22nd April 2017.
The Nzo Moonride course will entail a mix of grade 2 – 3 mountain bike trails and forestry roads to allow for easy passing. The Moonride course will utilise trails such as Tahi, Creek, Lion, Turkish Delight and Rockdrop.
Jaybird 12 Hour Event: Teams of 2 – 5 or Solo riders
Pig & Whistle 6 Hour Event: Teams of 2 – 5 or Solo riders
Unfortunately due to lack of numbers the 24 Hour event and the 25km Night Race will no longer be going ahead, we are sorry about any inconvenience caused.
The 12 hour event starts at 10am Saturday morning and goes through until 10pm. These events are open to solo riders and teams of 2 – 5 people. The 6 hour event starts at 10am Saturday morning and goes through to 4pm. It is open to solo riders and teams of 2 – 5 people
Teams ride the 9km circuit and complete as many laps as they can within the timeframe of their event. Tents, campervans and caravans pop up in the campsites which riders wind their way through each lap creating an electric atmosphere and unbelievable experience.
